More than a checklist

Useful from the
first page.

Read the examples, fill in a page, or bring one question to the next caregiver conversation. You don’t need to finish the whole pack to start.

  1. A handoff is an agreement

This playbook is for ordinary coordination between authorized caregivers, not custody, medical, or emergency planning.

  2. Decide what becomes shared

More detail is not always more useful. Share what the next person needs for the responsibility they have accepted.

  3. The one-page handoff

Fill this in together. Reference sensitive instructions in their trusted location rather than copying them onto loose paper.

  4. Separate the musts from preferences

Adults can care well without doing every ordinary task in exactly the same way.

  5. When the plan changes

Avoid silent assumptions. A change needs an owner, an actual message, and confirmation.

  6. Three scripts for a clearer conversation

These are original examples. Change the words to fit your relationship and communication needs.

  7. Work through one handoff

Fictional example: a grandparent is taking over an afternoon routine. The adults already have the necessary permissions and trusted care instructions.

  8. A ten-minute caregiver review

Use this after a handoff, not in the middle of an urgent transition.
